Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University is a public university located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh in the city of Allahabad. The university aims at offering access to higher education to large segments of population particularly to the disadvantaged groups like those living in rural and remote areas including working people, house wives and other adults, who are looking forward to upgrade or acquire knowledge through studies in different fields. The university also makes efforts to promote acquisition of knowledge in a rapidly changing and developing society. It offers education to all irrespective of sex, creed, caste and the jurisdiction of the university is spread over the whole state of Uttar Pradesh.
For offering education and other facilities to the students, the university has a number of schools and cells under its control and the schools pertaining to different disciplines like health sciences, science, education, computer science, agriculture, management, social sciences and humanities are functioning under the university.
